The Orthodox Patriarchy resides here at Fener. Eyup, a little further up, reflects Ottoman architecture. Cemeteries dotted with dark cypress trees cover the hillsides. Many pilgrims come to the Tomb of Eyup, in the hope that their prayers will be granted.. Visiting the Church of St. Savior in Chora (Kariye) Museum, a legendary Byzantine church decorated with extraordinary late 14th century frescoes and mosaics.
